National Faith & Blue Weekend set to be ‘largest police and community engagement project in history’

WASHINGTON, DC – National civil rights organization MovementForward, Inc., along with nearly 25 major national law enforcement groups, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, held a press conference today to announce National Faith & Blue Weekend, which is scheduled for October 7-10.

According to the event organizers, the mission of National Faith & Blue Weekend is to facilitate safer, stronger and more unified communities by directly facilitating collaborations between law enforcement and residents through local places of worship connections.

Solutions-focused events will include forums and town halls, peace and unity walks/walks, picnics, sporting events, vigils and other activities with the aim of fostering an environment of resolution of problems, resolution and reconciliation.

This effort is co-organized by Atlanta-based MovementForward, Inc. and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Community-Oriented Policing Office (COPS Office) and is the largest police-community engagement project in history, according to event organizers.
