Jones Earns Spot on SEC Community Service Team – Texas A&M Athletics


BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Texas A&M Women’s Basketball Sahara Jones earned a spot on the 2022 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league announced Wednesday.

The San Antonio, Texas native participated in AggiesCan last fall, which is the nation’s largest student-athlete volunteer canned food drive and has provided more than 40,000 meals to the Bryan area. -College Station. AggiesCan helps collect non-perishable food and monetary donations to benefit the Brazos Valley Food Bank and 12th Can.

Jones was a peer mentor in A&M’s CSTAT (College Summer Transition and Acclimatization Training) program that helps new student-athletes transition to Texas A&M. Currently, the second is the marketing manager for the BLUEprint. The organization represents Black Ireaders who youundertake Excellence – et is a student-athlete led organization that provides leadership opportunities and a sense of community while empowering Black people to use their voice.

Over the past 24 years, the SEC has made continuous efforts to recognize the achievements of student-athletes beyond the realm of competition. Jones becomes the eighth Aggie to receive this honor since A&M joined the league.
