STEUBENVILLE – EMIT Training Consultants has received state certification from the Minority Business Development Division of the Ohio Department of Development in the categories of Fostering Diversity, Growth, and Equity; minority business enterprise; and women-owned business.
The EDGE program was created by Ohio in the early 2000s to help level the playing field by providing resources and opportunities to minority-owned business enterprises, women’s businesses, and other socially or financially disadvantaged.
“These certifications create an exceptional opportunity for minority and women-owned businesses to receive equal treatment in terms of contracts, loans and grants. It levels the playing field,” said T’Kayla Kelley, general manager of communications at EMIT Training Consultants.
Benefits of certifications include access to more contracts with government agencies, boards, commissions and universities, as well as a host of local government organizations and private sector companies, as well as inclusion in databases of certified companies; and access to business resources, including grants, loans and training programs for certified or qualified companies, officials said.
“We look forward to working in our local community and surrounding areas. we want to give back while providing high-level training,” Kelley said. “We would also like to thank the Minority Business Assistance Center of Youngstown for their assistance.”
“It was a pleasure working with EMIT President Eliza Kelley,” said Tamisha Wheeler, the center’s business adviser. “We started the process as strangers and grew together for the journey. These are the companies we seek – the vision, the dream, the hard work – all play into the overall success of the company. We are so excited and proud to see what EMIT is doing and how it will continue to impact the community.
