After a year of leadership training, the Pathfinders, Adventurers and Youth of the American Samoa Mission (ASM) had the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice, leading and participating in a community service project. who have assisted various organizations in American Samoa.
Conducted on Sabbath afternoon October 30, the initiative distributed food, bedding and toiletries to public facilities, such as Tafuna Correctional Center (a juvenile detention center), Hope House ( home for the elderly and disabled) and two shelters housed under the Directorate of Human and Social Services (DHSS).
The representatives of the different organizations expressed their gratitude to the groups of young people who gave them donations. Some groups were also able to sing and pray with the organizations they encountered.
According to Seiuli Lance Pelenato, director of ASM’s youth ministries, community service projects that meet the needs of the community have been a priority for ASM’s youth ministries.
“I believe we can change the world if we work together. And nothing has been more rewarding than working side by side with young people as part of the community service of youth ministries, ”Pelenato said.
